Hej - my name is Birgit

and I am the head, heart and hands of Mycozyswedishhome.
I live with my family in a former school, in a small village on the high coast in northern Sweden.

Sweden is our beloved adopted homeland, to which we immigrated from the south of Germany in 2022. The small school is a warm home that has grown so dear to us after a complete renovation phase.

I am an educator and social worker and have always worked with people educationally and creatively. Felting and ceramics were my creative balance to my educational work. Words can create moods, spaces, feelings and changes just as much as the objects that surround us.

Part of my worklivetime was to organize training for pedagogues. One topic was “Felting with children” where we felted flowers and ribbons. That was more than 15 years ago and I haven't let go of this wonderful craft ever since. Ceramics have accompanied me since my childhood.

I made my first experiences self-taught and continued to expand my skills.
In 2015 I organized a small workshop on the topic of “surface design” with Ricarda Assmann, which enriched me greatly. Above all, the gilding of surfaces, the souls and the felting of fabrics influenced my work. Since then I have always been looking for special fabrics and ribbons that can be used in my felt works.

From 2017 to 2019 there was a small, permanent women's group “the women's Inn” in my small garden shed that housed my felt workshop.

In the summer of 2022, I completed an intensive ceramics week with various techniques such as plates and construction techniques or turning on the potter's wheel in Katharina Heusinger and Martin Waubke ceramics workshop “Auf der Speck”.

In winter 2022 I started the half-year online training “Filz Basic Course” with Ina Birke (atelierwerkstatt filzgewandt), which gave me a lot of basics about calculation, control and planning for felt projects.
In 2023 I completed the advanced course “Felt Structure” with Ina Birke and in 2024 “Nuno-Filz”, which gave me a wonderful wealth of surface designs and structures.
Since 2023, there has been my felt and ceramics workshop on the high coast in Sweden and mycozyswedishhome with two permanent sales points as well as the online shop with sales throughout Europe.
